Flatline does a funky little experiment, and surprisingly it works.

This was based off the ask I may or may not have sent in to darklordofthesimp, which love their writing, very much to die for in my opinion.

Boredom and curiosity sure bring out odd sides of people and can truly lead to rather interesting results. Such was the case of Flatline, one of the medics for the Task Force 141.

She’s had her fair share of odd experiences, both at her old job as a paramedic and now as a combat medic. But witnessing one of the best snipers they’ve ever heard of and seen responding to being pspspspspsed at? Definitely not something they would ever think they would witness.

Now, you may be wondering, Flatline, how the fuck did you manage that, let alone come up with the idea of pspspspspsing at someone? Well, for shits and giggles of course. Ok maybe not for shits and giggles but more because curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought it back.

It started like what would be a normal day on base. Meaning, she was currently on her like second or third cup of coffee. Not healthy and not very effective but it’s fine. At least that’s what she told herself. The eye bags begged to differ but in this line of work, that was to be expected.

There was only one other person sitting in the common area with Flatline, that person being Birdy. Flatline had mixed emotions about Birdy, finding the woman to be rather scary, even if she was now incredibly traumatized. Actually, scratch that, that made Flatline more scared because Birdy was scary as hell before, but now she’s rather unpredictable.

The two sat in a rather comfortable silence, aside from the occasional sound coming from Flatlines phone. She was just scrolling through random videos in her phone, before she landed on a video of a cat being pspspspsed at. This seemed to have caught Birdy’s attention though, as she quickly looked up before looking away.

“Hmm, odd. There’s no way though right? No way in hell The Birdy would respond to being pspspsped at like a fucking cat! Ok well now I need to put it to the test and see for me myself.” Was what was running through her mind. She decided why not use the scientific method of basically fuck around and find out and see if Birdy actually was secretly part cat.

She waited a few more minutes, staring at her phone and sitting in silence before letting out a quiet “Pspspspspsps” and even rubbing her fingers together to see if she’d get a bigger reaction.

She most definitely did. That reaction being Birdy snapping her heads towards Flatline, her eyes boring into the medics. “Did you need something?”

Flatline snapped out of their shock, genuinely surprised that Birdy looked over at her, let alone she responded! She quickly shook her head and stood up, shooting her a quick smile and nervously rubbing her neck

“Oh no sorry bout that. I just was testing something is all. I’m… I’m just gonna go now.” She made a beeline for the door, accidentally slamming her shoulder into the doorframe and letting out a quiet “ouch” before continuing on their way, making her way past Ghost.

Birdy just stared at the doorframe, shrugging at the look Ghost gave her.

Out in the, Flatline was surprisingly happy with herself, despite having ran into a damn doorframe. “Holy shit I cant believe that actually worked.” She was internally cheering even though Birdy probably now thought she was weird. Or at least weirder. But Flatline didn’t give shit, she would definitely do it again. Just not anytime soon. Next time though, she planned to get proof. Was it possible to get other members of the 141 to respond to similar noises? Who knows. But Flatline sure as hell was planning to find out.

Alright members of the jury, I’ve gotten sucked into COD recently and now I’ve made an oc. So meet Flatline!

And here’s some little headcanons about em.

Their actual name is Aster Lennox.

They used to be a paramedic before joining the military. That’s how they got some of their scars.

They have a very high pain tolerance and sometimes just shrugs off injuries.

Despite being a medic and often telling others to take care themselves, Aster does not do this half the time. Mf is a hypocrite lmao

Deals with a lot of intrusive thought’s when overwhelmed, none of which they have acted on.

Doesn’t like to show when overwhelmed though.

When upset, they’ll shut down and just give short responses like “Yes sir, no sir, yes ma’am, no ma’am.” Or just stand their silently and take whatever is being said to them.

This can include verbal abuse too. They’ll just stand there and take it.

Has worked at a summer camp before and has compared to dealing with some of their patients as dealing with literal children.

Sleep is for the weak, very much might be a chronic insomniac, but has not confirmed nor denied it.

Speaking of which, they have been called to some rather horrific scenes.

Has had to pump someone’s heart manually. Meaning they had to crack someone’s chest open, grab their heart and squeeze it to try and get blood flowing. It was an experience they vividly remember to say the least. Sometimes wakes up in a cold sweat thinking about it.

Has been punched in the face by a crack addict a few times

A very expressive person. Meaning if you say something dumb or something baffles them, it very much will be written all over their face.

When they don’t take care of themselves (ie. forgetting to eat, forgetting to drink water, forgetting to shower occasionally and even just forgetting to sleep) they get smacked with a newspaper.

Knows Latin for some god forsaken reason??

Very much the kind of person when uncomfortable won’t say anything and just smile and laugh it off.

Sometimes can be a bit a people pleaser.

Holding on through the power of positive thinking and sheer willpower.

Really likes to play the drums, gets more aggressive when playing when upset.

A muscular woman. Like she’s a power lifter and able to lift someone twice her own weight over her shoulder

Totally dances around and sings whenever they she thinks she’s alone (Has been caught on occasion).

Long story short, trying to keep the 141 alive alongside the other medics

Okay yeah now I'ma go, don't strain your body and if your bandages come loose make sure to come to me so we can start at this wall again" -line

btw Notion HATES receiving medical attention. He sucked it up in the marines but now? Unless he’s unconscious, he’s not going willingly. It sucks a lot sometimes, especially directly after physically strenuous where he’s very prone to collapsing due to his leg being physically unable to support his weight

Last time he ‘willingly’ received medical treatment was when he literally got knocked out during his first operation with Shadow Company and got dragged to medbay
